2010 HRYS Summer Glory Each spring HRYS House League players try-out for our Summer Glory All-Stars/Travel teams at the 10U, 12U, 14U, & 16U levels and represent the HRYS organization at the annual Babe Ruth Softball Tournament Trail and the Mid-Atlantic Area Softball Tournaments during the summer and fall softball seasons. In addition, these teams participate in 4-5 tournamnets during the summer and fall season. Participation in the Summer Glory program requires additional commitments on the part of the coaches, players, and parents. High School Softball Players The Summer Glory program is a great fit for local area high school players. The HRYS league works with all local area high schools to support their athletic programs, strives to make sure the HRYS Summer Glory program does not conflict with the high school season, and will accommodate Varsity and Junior Varsity high school players' schedules. High school players interested in playing on a Summer Glory team should register to play HRYS House League Babe Ruth Softball. There are a couple weeks of overlap between the two seasons but that will not impact your eligibility to play in the Babe Ruth summer season. We encourage players to come when they can to House League activities, but the high school season is their first priority. During the 2009 spring season we had several high school players play high school softball and participate with their House League team and Summer Glory team. Committment Participation in the Summer Glory program requires additional commitments on the part of the coaches, players, and parents. There will be extra practices beyond the House League team commitment. Players and parents need to make sure that their time management skills are sharpened to ensure that they can successfully participate in the Summer Glory program. There is a financial requirement of approximately $200 for the summer season and $125 for the fall season - plus any associated travel costs. |
